“You work in telly. Fantastic…um, but what exactly do you do all day?
It’s a question I’m asked over and over again.
Working in TV or films might sound like a very glamorous lifestyle to have, mingling with the stars, munching posh bites at premieres and sipping champagne all day. Indeed many of you may have thought of doing something “in the media” yourselves. If you haven’t got hopes of stepping in to the spotlight or behind the scenes then it’s a good bet that at least one of your children or grandchildren harbours hopes of a career in the media.
But what does it all mean? Who’s who and what do people actually do to get programmes on telly, write a drama script, get a story in the papers or launch a successful website.
Some of the secrets about life in the media are about to be revealed when I chat about the ups and downs of working in the world of showbiz and answers any questions you may have on media matters.
