Monday 9 May

1-Bees 3

(thanks to WI Life for picture)

Our meeting is delayed because of the Early May Bank Holiday but we hope to see you on 9th May at 7  p.m. in the Hindmarsh Hall when Sandra Carrott will give us fantastic facts about Bees and Beekeeping.

The competition is for details of a beauty product using honey.

Our Fashion Show

A really big thank you to Sue Ellis for staging a wonderful fashion show at her shop, Seasons of Alnwick, on 20th April 2016, to support our WI.  It was a really pleasurable get together with chatter and laughter assisted by the odd glass of fizzy and chocolates.

I am  pleased to say that we have raised a really significant amount of money for our institute from the event – results from which I will announce at our  May meeting.

The clothes displayed were beautiful, ranging from basic casual to smart casual, and then chic day wear followed by a spectacular display of the special or wedding outfits.

The models Sue, Julie, Pam, Marion and Yvonne demonstrated so well how different designs and materials can flatter every figure. My personal thanks to them for giving up their time to give us a great evening.

Annual Meeting

Our President, Secretary and Treasurer with Prudence

We held our Annual Meeting on Monday with Janis Crook elected as President to serve another year (a glutton for punishment obviously).  The reports reflected a very successful 2015 – 2016 with a variety of activities and good wishes go to the new committee to whom we wish a successful and enjoyable year in office.

Our W.I. adviser, Mrs Prudence Marks, took the opportunity to outline further details on the two resolutions going to the AGM this year, and we thank her for her interest in our WI.  I can’t repeat the stories she told at the end but there wasn’t a straight face in the room – and they were quite naughty!
